Be sure to check your local NBC affiliates for time and station for DATELINE NBC on Sunday, June 7.  My story is titled "The Years of Living Dangerously" and is taking up one hour of the two hour show.  It has been a wonderful experience watching the production shape up and I have been fortunate to get to know a fantastic lady, Sarah, my producer.  Thank you, Sarah, for believing in my story and for helping me get the word out to women to help them understand the crazymaking world of the psychopath.

Amazing Story on Dateline!
Thank you for your courage and tenacity.

I am stunned by the similarities between your experiences and those of Sandra Boss. He ex-husband "Clark Rockefeller" is on trial for kidnapping their daughter.

We are women on a similar mission. Yep. He was an officer in the Navy, but most definitely not a gentleman.

I've taken the liberty of writing about your story on my blog. Hope we'll be able to connect.

courts/domestic violence
I ran across your website a couples months back then last week I saw your dateline story. I am currently in a court battle to save my children and to keep my parental rights. I have four children who my ex has brainwashed and forced to say things about me do to the fear he has implanted in them. I have a trial scheduled for February where the state is going to terminate my rights. I and another woman are trying to get lawyers to help us but financially were are bankrupt. The courts have drained every ounce of money they can from us. We are wanting to file a class action suit against the state. But we are looking for help and resources. I notice that you were able to get some laws in California changed regarding domestic violence. We are wanting to do the same here. Children are suffering do to these psychopathic men and their ability to control and manipulate the system.
I would like to be able to contact you and get advice and direction since you have already walked this path.

Re: courts/domestic violence
Please send me an email to barbara@adancewiththedevil.com. That way I can personally answer you back. Unfortunately your situation is not unique. I wish the courts would wake up to the devastation caused by sociopaths and psychopaths. They know how to use the system!

Your book
I am reading your book now and am just flabbergasted at what John did to to you over the course of ten years. I am sure others have asked you why you didn't see the light sooner. When you were researching him in the library and you learned he wasn't on the university teaching list why, oh why didn't you finally see the truth and leave?? I guess as someone who has never been victimized in this why I don't understand how difficult it may be to admit what is happening. But it just seems so unreal to me. I am so glad you survived and were able to help change the laws in CA. I still have to finish the book, but my nerves are on edge. My husband is a graduate of Annapolis and retired as a commander. But at least I know he is the real deal! I am glad you found the true love of your life!

Re: Your book
Hi Nancy, Thanks for your comments. I stayed because I was caught up in a crazymaking world. But you have to understand that there were a lot more normal days that the ones with stress. You don't get to read about the good times because they would be boring! And when I was in the library -- a lot of things John talked about showed up in his dad's obiturary and the the bio in the encyclopedia. So I still couldn't sort out what was real and what wasn't.

Re: Your book
I understand. I have a good friend who is involved in the local shelter for domestic violence victims. I told her about your book and she is dying to read it. I did finish it last night and was so happy for the successes you achieved through your perseverance, passion and persistence! LOL! You are amazing. My friend also told me how these men can make you feel like you are insane yourself and that it isn't as easy as it seems to break away. I am fortunate that I have the husband I have and now you do too! Good luck in all your future endeavors!
